A humbling individual with a heartfelt passion for his craft -Mysterio

We shine the spotlight on Miguel Monrose who goes by the stage name Mysterio. He started his education journey at the St. Aloysius RC Boys Infant and Primary School where he then moved on to the Vide Bouteille Secondary School. He later continued to further his education at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College at the division of Agriculture. Now known for his consistent contribution to soca music in St. Lucia, Mysterio made his debut in 2011 with his song “Bend Dong” produced and written by TC Brown. Since then he has musically contributed each year, with his biggest hit Nah Go Home in 2013 produced by Miguel Migz Joseph of Vibez Productionz.
When asked why the name Mysterio, he will give you the inevitable story of his 1998 secondary school calypso competition experience, which ironically was punishment by
the principal for his misconduct but would also turn out to be his purpose. Growing up he was always exposed to the musical background by his grandmother who was an avid listening of Sugar Aloes, Sparrow, The Baron, Calypso Rose to name a few, which caught his attention at a very tender age. Fast tracking seventeen (17) years later Mysterio has once again been able to wow us with his vocal tone which some even find reminiscent to that of groovy soca artist “Militant”. One of his single Feting Holiday takes us on a journey that we are all familiar with especially during the carnival season.
Mysterio seeks inspiration where ever he goes. His greatest influences thus far has been by listening and learning from artist like Lord Kitchener, Machel Montano, Invader, Ninja Dan and Beenie Man. Those artistes give him the drive to write the songs he do
and change the way he perceive his soca style. He has taken part in the power and groovy soca monarch but his biggest
accomplishment to date has been when he came Second Place in the first ever SOCA SWITCH competition which was held in 2015. As most artist he gets nervous before a performance or competition but he does not make that get the best of him, he goes out
there gives it his best and feeds off the crowd’s energy and brings his own stamina and dance moves.
He had a little advice for new artist who gets nervous before a performance make it sweet, simple and bring the energy. You can always find him practising and doing his utmost best to better his craft. He has a balance with his musical career and his other
obligations in his life which consist of his family and work. His family supports him and also are the first audience to his new songs. His work place gives him the time out to do his rehearsals and performances.
When asked what were a few things he could not do without he did not hesitate and said “first and foremost the almighty God, my son and family, music, food, carnival and my fans without them I would not have made it this far.” His every day motto is “live life one day at a time to its fullest and expect anything in life.”
In ten (10) years from now he sees himself having his own show and it being the biggest in St. Lucia and the Caribbean. And also to nurture and assist thriving artist along the way as he once was in this very same position.
As he takes his brand to the next level he has partnered with ngm events affair to make this venture possible. Where ever or whenever you hear ngm events affair look out for Mysterio. Bigger and better things ahead from now on. NGM EVENTZ IS NOW THE
MANAGEMENT TEAM FOR MYSYERIO
He describes his music as dynamic, influential, addictive, catchy and melodic for readers who have never heard his songs. If I was granted to open for any artist on tour right now it would have to be Machel Montano.
A humbling individual with a heartfelt passion for his craft, Mysterio is sure to make and leave and everlasting impression on St. Lucian music.

The Face of Luciagel Rocheal presents herself and asks you to do the same: click Get featured!

Nineteen (19) year old Rocheal Philip may seem to be the average friendly teenager who enjoys music, dancing and the casual hangouts with friends, but there is so much more to this remarkable young lady. With a larger-than-life personality sketched with bright coloured crayons, she emits love, thoughtfulness and strength.

During her years at the Choiseul Secondary School, Rocheal engaged in poetry and drama, but it was sports that held her heart. She represented her school in Track & Field and Netball and through this exposure to inter-secondary school athletics, Rocheal experienced first-hand the benefits of physical activity. Year after year her love for sports grew, birthing an undeniable passion for fitness.

Not one to shy away from new challenges, Rocheal dabbled in modelling with Nicholas Modelling Fashion Agency (NMFA) and fire dancing with the Saint Lucia Local Fire Dancers. Though she enjoyed the experiences and welcomed, with open arms, all the challenges each brought before her, it was fitness training she wholeheartedly longed for. Soon her time came and her wish was granted.

Following her successful CXC studies, Rocheal went on to pursue personal training in England in 2014. She joined the Whitely Onform Personal Training fitness club where her programme extended to include boxing as well as track & field. This intense bootcamp was hosted by soldiers of the British Army who were pleasantly surprised at the determination this young lady possessed. She was endowed with an unwavering zeal to succeed and to push beyond all limits. Rocheal’s fortitude brought her great recognition among her fellow trainees and trainers, so much so that she became the “face of London exercising” when she was placed on the cover of OP DETOX fitness e-book.

Upon her return to St. Lucia in 2016, with all her fitness training and accomplishments in England, Rocheal had her eyes set on a new target – Bodybuilding. On August 27th, 2016, after only a month of preparation, she represented the Sidonie Brothers Gym at the St. Lucia Amateur Bodybuilding & Fitness Association (SLABBFA) competition in the Bikini Body category. Although placing fourth in the competition, Rocheal was not disheartened. If anything, she was more determined for she saw this loss as a wakeup call to work harder, to push further and to be more focused than ever. She has decided to participate again in 2017 but in the Women’s Physique category – a more competitive class.

With an attitude of gratitude and a spirit of optimism, Rocheal Philip epitomises ambition, passion and strong will. A powerful individual who swears by the phrase “I’m a big deal,” Rocheal is adamant that the most important thing a girl wears is her confidence.

My name is allen Chery and I’m currently a photographer at sandals grande. My journey in photography began in 2012, I was in need of a job after being unemployed for a long time. As time went by, using my time to polish on my skill as a photographer at sandals I saved up enough money to get my own camera. I’ve shot a few event sis as omg fest, denmin & diamond and imperial. I’ve also shot a few model shoots as well as engagement, maternity, family and also weddings. My goal is to continue to grow in the art of photography.

Dwight Florent- When Words Fail Music Speaks!

Dwight Kerry Florent Address- Grande Riviere/ Gros-Islet Telephone Number- 4841007/4503007 Email- Dwightos9000@hotmail.com

Dwight Florent, born July 24th 1998 has always had a deep passion for music. I grew up in church where I first started to play my first instrument drums at the tender age of 5. After about 6-7 years of playing drums as church I then decided to make a change to the bass guitar. I still felt deep down inside that it wasn’t the instrument for me, hence leading me to the guitar where I felt like home. I still tried my options by going on to the keyboard. I took classes at the St. Lucia School of music for keyboard but I still felt a deep passion for guitar. Even my piano teacher saw and felt it. After years of taking late online guitar lessons off YouTube and loosing hours of sleep, I was finally getting the hang of it. My friend then invited me to take part in a Jazz Improvisation master class at the St. Lucia School Of music. I was nervous but took part. After the Program The teacher then openly invited me to join the St. Lucia School Of Music Jazz Band called ‘Black Antz’. It was in this band I gained the opportunity to perform at the St. Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival, Travel to countries such as French Guiana, Venezuela, Martinique, Suriname etc. I took guitar classes at the school for a very short period of time when the school got a guitar teacher but I must say the a majority of what I play today was learnt off YouTube and self experience of coarse. My parents have been very supportive of my musical career I must say. My father realized my passion for it and was playing jazz music by the legends Norman Brown, George Benson, Foreplay etc. every morning on my way to school from the age of 8 to 15. It was like I was being programmed to learn it, which I did. Up to a day like today I can still sing every single lick that was played in the record. I have been playing guitar professionally for about 4 years. I’ve also started to develop a love for producing music as well which lead me to invest in my very own home studio that I dreamed about. So far I must say my musical journey has been a very exciting one, and I look forward to showing the world what Dwight Florent has to offer. Awards Throughout my many years of being a musician, my accomplishments have given me exposure and many opportunities to be featured on television networks, such as being a participant of the Young Leaders program on Choice TV, being featured on Island beats by the Visitors Channel, which occasionally uses samples of my original music on their program to help with the promotion of our island St.Lucia and also performing on HTS rising with my band ASAP. Moreover, the previous minister of health, wellness, human services and gender relations Alvina Renolds recognized my talent and awarded me during her “2015 Baboneau Youth of Excellence Awards” ceremony where I received the music award. I also gained the title of the best music practical student 2015 at the Corinth Secondary School and was awarded during my graduation ceremony. My music experiences have ventured from, performing at the St. Lucia Jazz and Arts festival’s various venues such as Baywalk Jazz, Soufriere Jazz, Marigot Jazz, Jazz on square, Side stage (stage 2) etc. for 3 consecutive years with many bands and artists such as Shayne Ross, The ASAP band, The St.Lucia School Of Music, Barbara Cadet, my band “Dynamix” and Kayo Guverra. I’ve also toured with artists such as Rob Zii Taylor to Barbados and with Chrycee Charlemagne to New York, Staten Island, Houston Texas and Atlanta for live shows and performances. Also I’ve had the opportunity to travel to Venezuela and French Guiana representing the St. Lucia School Of Music at live performances and music workshops. In addition, I was chosen to represent St. Lucia in Brazil at an international youth conference and workshop. Moreover, I was also the guitarist for the 2016 soca monarch competiton with the band extreme which backed up and played for every soca artist in the groovy and power soca segment. My playing has been heard on many popular local tracks such as “Dat Beat” by Arthur Allain, “Swim my way” by Ezra D’funmachine, “Neighbour” by Sedale and currently working on new music with Teddyson John and Yannick Plante (Minor Productionz)
