A humbling individual with a heartfelt passion for his craft -Mysterio

We shine the spotlight on Miguel Monrose who goes by the stage name Mysterio. He started his education journey at the St. Aloysius RC Boys Infant and Primary School where he then moved on to the Vide Bouteille Secondary School. He later continued to further his education at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College at the division of Agriculture. Now known for his consistent contribution to soca music in St. Lucia, Mysterio made his debut in 2011 with his song “Bend Dong” produced and written by TC Brown. Since then he has musically contributed each year, with his biggest hit Nah Go Home in 2013 produced by Miguel Migz Joseph of Vibez Productionz.
When asked why the name Mysterio, he will give you the inevitable story of his 1998 secondary school calypso competition experience, which ironically was punishment by
the principal for his misconduct but would also turn out to be his purpose. Growing up he was always exposed to the musical background by his grandmother who was an avid listening of Sugar Aloes, Sparrow, The Baron, Calypso Rose to name a few, which caught his attention at a very tender age. Fast tracking seventeen (17) years later Mysterio has once again been able to wow us with his vocal tone which some even find reminiscent to that of groovy soca artist “Militant”. One of his single Feting Holiday takes us on a journey that we are all familiar with especially during the carnival season.
Mysterio seeks inspiration where ever he goes. His greatest influences thus far has been by listening and learning from artist like Lord Kitchener, Machel Montano, Invader, Ninja Dan and Beenie Man. Those artistes give him the drive to write the songs he do
and change the way he perceive his soca style. He has taken part in the power and groovy soca monarch but his biggest
accomplishment to date has been when he came Second Place in the first ever SOCA SWITCH competition which was held in 2015. As most artist he gets nervous before a performance or competition but he does not make that get the best of him, he goes out
there gives it his best and feeds off the crowd’s energy and brings his own stamina and dance moves.
He had a little advice for new artist who gets nervous before a performance make it sweet, simple and bring the energy. You can always find him practising and doing his utmost best to better his craft. He has a balance with his musical career and his other
obligations in his life which consist of his family and work. His family supports him and also are the first audience to his new songs. His work place gives him the time out to do his rehearsals and performances.
When asked what were a few things he could not do without he did not hesitate and said “first and foremost the almighty God, my son and family, music, food, carnival and my fans without them I would not have made it this far.” His every day motto is “live life one day at a time to its fullest and expect anything in life.”
In ten (10) years from now he sees himself having his own show and it being the biggest in St. Lucia and the Caribbean. And also to nurture and assist thriving artist along the way as he once was in this very same position.
As he takes his brand to the next level he has partnered with ngm events affair to make this venture possible. Where ever or whenever you hear ngm events affair look out for Mysterio. Bigger and better things ahead from now on. NGM EVENTZ IS NOW THE
He describes his music as dynamic, influential, addictive, catchy and melodic for readers who have never heard his songs. If I was granted to open for any artist on tour right now it would have to be Machel Montano.
A humbling individual with a heartfelt passion for his craft, Mysterio is sure to make and leave and everlasting impression on St. Lucian music.
